This resource offers a planning framework for designing a holistic, crafted, and formational approach to teaching and learning – shaped by the biblical narrative and recognising Christ as Lord of all.
Transformation by Design: Crafting Formational Learning is for Christian teachers working with any age student and at any stage of their career. It is a practical resource – laced with examples – intended to stimulate teachers to reflect on their classroom practice. It highlights that a teacher’s practice is formational, and that a teacher’s calling to craft lessons, learning activities, assessments, and a classroom culture, significantly impacts the outcome of all teaching and learning. It builds on the previous resource Transformation by Design: The Big Picture in highlighting the importance of not only intentionally designing curriculum for student transformation, but also in designing teaching and learning that has the end in mind: the transformed student.
This book, Transformation by Design: Crafting Formational Learning, is a companion to Transformation by Design: The Big Picture. In this resource, we turn our attention to the way we unfold our teaching and learning (the craft of teaching) and to the why of our teaching (formational learning). We offer a designing and planning framework for the task of building a holistic, crafted, and formational approach to teaching and learning.
