We warmly invite all board members (Principals and Business Managers are also most welcome) to participate in our online Governance webinars for 2024.

The focus for this webinar will be: “Securing The Future: Wise Financial and Insurance Strategies for Christian School Boards”

Guest Speaker: In this webinar we will be welcoming as our guest speaker Peter Bain, Business Manager at Plenty Valley Christian College in Victoria.

Peter has a wealth of experience and expertise in supporting boards in knowing the questions to ask, the areas to focus on and the strategies to assist in ensuring best practice in financial governance.

The workshop is designed to provide helpful information and strategies for board members to assist them in this important role.

We often find there are a mix of levels of financial experience and expertise on boards. Some board members are financially trained and experts. Other board members have limited experience in financial governance and may be unsure of the best practices relating to this area of their responsibility.

Why not sit together as a board and share in this workshop?  This webinar will be quite interactive and we would encourage boards to sit together or at least as a small group of board members and participate together. People can attend on their own, however it might be helpful to have board discussion groups too.

The workshop will be both informative and practical – providing strategies for managing financial governance well. Peter will work through situations where boards may have to consider emerging financial issues that require decisions to be made. Some of these may include:

  1. When enrolments are less than expected
  2. When enrolments are slowly but consistently trending downwards. When are these just a “glitch” and when is it a concern? How to tell?
  3. Potential change in government funding
  4. Longer term projections for budgets

Peter will also give us an overview of Insurance in Christan Schools –what we should have and suggestions as to what we might want to consider into the future.

Kathy Pereira will give us a snapshot of the new Board Performance review tool that your boards can access annually.

We are looking forward to this helpful webinar and would encourage boards to ensure members are able to attend.
