Wycliffe Christian School is a Preschool to Year 12 co-educational Christian school located in the beautiful lower Blue Mountains.  Together with Wycliffe Hope School, Wycliffe Christian School is an inclusive learning community in which families and their children are able to flourish as they make the most of their God-given talents and abilities.

We are looking for committed Christians of an evangelical persuasion who are active in their local church to join our staff team.  Applications are invited for the position of Head of Teaching & Learning at Wycliffe Christian School, commencing in January 2026, with the possibility of commencing earlier for interested candidates.

The Head of Teaching & Learning is an Executive Leadership position and plays an important role in the implementation of the mission and vision of the school as it relates to teaching practice and student learning.

Role Description

The person serving in this role will:

  • Live out Gospel-saturated leadership through service to students, families and staff.
  • Provide strategic leadership which promotes and embeds high quality teaching and learning practices.
  • Provide strategic leadership in developing and embedding Forming Engaged Learners policy and procedures.
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, lead processes that embed a learning culture of high expectations for all students.
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, provide leadership and oversight of all aspects of NESA teacher accreditation.
  • Implement training and encouragement of staff which shapes their practice according to biblical wisdom, and which is intrinsically connected to a deep understanding of the distinctive nature of teaching, learning and curriculum development within a community seeking to be gospel-centred.
  • Identify and implement the outworking of current teaching and learning theories and strategies.
  • Provide leadership in the embedding of digital technologies effectively into pedagogical practice to enhance learning and teaching.
  • In collaboration with the Heads of School, provide leadership of staff professional
    development.
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, provide leadership of effective staff appraisal processes.
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, support a culture that enables students to serve God, grow in faith and flourish within a K-12 school.
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, support, encourage and create a learning community which honours and celebrates all students as image-bearers and valued members of the school community.
  • Model a personal pedagogy that represents excellence within teaching and learning.
  • Model a commitment to your own professional learning and reflective practices that are focused on refining pedagogy through engagement with current research.
  • Model a personal pedagogy that demonstrates rich teaching practices and high expectations for student learning which caters for diverse student needs and fosters inclusive student learning environments.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Heads of School on the implementation of the Forming Engaged Learners policy and procedures.
  • In partnership with teachers, regularly conduct classroom observations to assist staff with implementation of the Forming Engaged Learners policy and procedures.
  • Within the framework of the Forming Engaged Learners policy and procedures, embed practices of data driven analysis, including NAPLAN and RAP, to assist in the development of teaching and learning strategies.
  • In collaboration with the Heads of School, coordinate and implement the sequencing of professional learning for staff.
  • Implement the school’s Teacher Accreditation processes including observations, reports and recommendations.
  • Attend school events as appropriate.
  • Meet with the Principal weekly.
  • Participate in regular Leadership Team meetings.
  • Meet with the Executive Leadership Team fortnightly.
  • Carry a teaching load FTE of 0.2 – 0.4.
