Nurturing Personal & Staff Wellbeing
Heavy workloads, competing demands, administration, parent and staff expectations, staff
shortages and anxiety stemming from working in an unpredictable environment are just
some of the challenges contributing to the increased stress and declining mental health and
wellbeing of Principals and teachers. The ripple effects of these challenges ebb well beyond
the school grounds. Wellbeing is critical for every professional in a school, their family and
the students and colleagues they connect and work with. In this engaging presentation Dr
Jodi Richardson shares evidence-based insights, ideas and a plethora of practical strategies
that, when applied, have a powerful impact on day-to-day stress management, mental health
and wellbeing. A comprehensive summary of key learning outcomes, strategies and
additional resources enables Principals to apply and share the learning in their work with
school staff and students.
Session Two | 90 mins
Wellbeing Initiatives that Work
Implementing effective strategies and initiatives to support staff wellbeing is crucial.
However, the dynamic nature of schools means that what works in one context may not
necessarily work in another. This session, led by Dr. Jodi Richardson, enables Principals to
come together and exchange insights on successful wellbeing practices that have the
potential to be adopted in other school settings. These could be strategies to enable the
Daily Organiser some precious time to disconnect, boundaries around parent-staff
communication through to whole staff initiatives.
These shared ideas will be carefully compiled to create a comprehensive summary, which
will then be distributed among the network leveraging the collective wisdom and experiences
of individuals in the group.
This is open to Principals and other Executive Leaders in your school. Teaching and Learning Leaders will break off to conduct their own discussions mid-morning after which we will all enjoy some lunch together.
