This stage attends first to identity, posture, and purpose. Leaders at this point are beginning to recognise their influence and sense an invitation to leadership, whether formally or informally. The focus is not on role attainment, but on discerning why one leads and from where authority flows. Attention is given to self-awareness, character, and the alignment of belief, motivation, and behaviour. Leaders are encouraged to understand leadership as service and responsibility rather than advancement, developing foundational habits of reflection, learning, and relational attentiveness. This stage establishes a secure sense of identity from which leadership can emerge with humility and clarity.
