Innovative and energetic Christian educators are invited to apply for the position of Director of Studies.  This is a full-time position commencing Term 4 2026.

The Director of Studies is a key academic learning leader in the Secondary School and plays a vital role in leading teams of teachers to make the school’s vision, mission, purpose, statement of faith and learning framework a tangible reality in the life of the school.  Reporting to the Academic Head, the Director of Studies promotes a positive learning culture that is academically rigorous, authentically Christian and encompasses a holistic view of student wellbeing and learning.

Nestled in the leafy suburb of Barden Ridge in Southern Sydney, Shire Christian School has been providing high quality Christian education for nearly 50 years.  With over 900 students enrolled across Prep to Year 12, we seek to create a culture where every child is part of a community that feels like family.  Shire Christian School is committed to whole student learning; both academically and pastorally.  We support staff to adopt and implement a Learning Power approach to teaching and learning, under our Learning for Life framework.  Under this framework, teachers work in a collaborative and collegial environment to design experiences that challenge, extend and enrich student learning.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • An outstanding educator and leader able to inspire and grow students and teachers.
  • Committed to working collaboratively with secondary leadership to facilitate and foster a positive learning climate for staff and students across the Secondary School.
  • Able to demonstrate a capacity to identify and manage change.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Secondary School curriculum documents and teaching programs are compliant and support the pedagogies endorsed by the school.
  • Coordinate the compliance and operation of the Secondary School’s assessment program, and the management of academic data and student pattern of study.
  • Contribute to individual and group engagement with structured professional development, including developing workshops, presentations and staff mentoring as required.
  • An understanding of how a Biblical worldview informs and impacts curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Able to establish positive relationships with parents and carers of the School and work with them for the benefit of student learning.
  • An active contributor in the wider educational field with an interest in research informed practices
