An exciting opportunity has opened up for a temporary part-time Teacher at St Peter’s Heart.

St Peter’s Anglican Grammar and St Peter’s Heart are two of three schools governed by Campbelltown Anglican Schools Council, as a ministry of St Peter’s Anglican Church, Campbelltown.  St Peter’s Anglican Grammar and St Peter’s Heart are Christian independent schools seeking to employ practising protestant Christian staff who can contribute to the Council’s mission statement.

St Peter’s Heart is a special school catering for students with mild to moderate intellectual disability and/ or mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Overview of the Position 

St Peter’s Anglican Grammar is unashamedly Christian and seeks to employ practising protestant Christian staff who can contribute to the vision and mission.  The role of the Teacher is to ensure the pastoral, spiritual and academic needs of all students in their care are met.  The successful candidate will be an appropriately qualified teacher with the ability to utilise effective teaching and learning strategies.  The candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain a safe learning environment for all students within the school.

Within St Peter’s Heart, each class will be supported by a Teacher Assistant.  The Classroom Teacher plays a key role in working collaboratively with other teachers and providing learning support and enrichment to students within the cohort.  The successful candidate’s strengths will be considered when allocating classes.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate the following:

  • Be a committed Christian who is active in the life of an evangelical Christian church.
  • Commitment to Christian education, with a clear understanding of the vision and mission of Campbelltown Anglican Schools, and a willingness to support the faith formation of students.
  • Completed an approved and accredited teaching degree (eg. 4 year trained Bachelor of Education) or equivalent.
  • Eligibility to teach according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
  • Ability to facilitate dynamic and collaborative learning experiences.
  • Create supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices.
  • Exemplary classroom practice, utilising a range of effective pedagogies.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to communicate with parents, students and staff effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a special education school / environment.
