Nestled in the leafy suburb of Barden Ridge in Southern Sydney, Shire Christian School has been providing high quality Christian education for nearly 50 years.  With over 900 students enrolled across Prep to Year 12, we seek to create a culture where every child is part of a community that feels like family.

We are currently seeking applications from committed Christians for an experienced Library Technician to join our library team from the beginning of Term 3, 2024.  This is a 2 day part-time position (Monday-Tuesday), worked during term time only.

The successful applicant will:

  • Contribute to the development of the library services in the whole school, including the physical environment.
  • Have experience and confidence in using technology in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate an ability to contribute to library lessons and assist students with bibliographies and referencing.
  • Assist and lead junior and secondary school students to use a range of resources and technologies.
  • Have a strong knowledge of children’s literature and an ability to make age-appropriate recommendations.
  • Actively promote literacy events/programs that support literacy development across the school.
  • Take initiative, whilst also being able to take direction from a team leader.
  • Be well organised and motivated.
  • Be relationally warm and perceptive of the needs of students, staff, and parents.
  • Hold a current WWCC.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Formal qualifications directly relevant to the position would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with children in a library.
  • Experience with:
    • cataloguing
    • archiving
    • circulation duties e.g. loans, returns, overdues and reservations
    • preparing learning resources, including developing and maintaining digital resources.

The successful applicant should be a committed Christian actively involved in a church community.  All employees at Shire Christian are expected to be personally committed to the school’s Mission, Vision and Statement of Faith with a clear understanding of reformed evangelical theology.

Remuneration will be determined according to the Independent Schools (Support and Operational Staff) MEA 2021.
