Donvale Christian College:

Donvale Christian College is located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne having opened in 1975.  The current enrolment is over 1500 students from Prep to Year 12 and the total number of employees is approximately 300.

Donvale Christian College is governed, as provided for in its Constitution, by the College Board.  The Board are elected by the members of the College.  The full range of Christian denominations is represented in the parent body of the College.  There is no position on the Board elected or appointed by any single church community.  The Board is totally elected by the membership of Donvale Christian College Ltd.  The Executive Principal is appointed by the Board and together they appoint staff.

Members of the Donvale Christian College community come from many different Christian faith traditions.  To ensure a sense of harmony between home and School, the College has adopted a Statement of Faith based on a Christian worldview.  All parents and Staff are specifically asked if their faith commitment is echoed in the words of this Statement of Faith and they are requested to indicate agreement when applying for the enrolment of their children or employment at the College.

Staff members are expected to actively support the Christian aims of the College. Membership of a Bible based worship community is one of the criteria that has to be satisfied to successfully gain employment.

Role

The ICT Manager is a key leadership position. Under the direction of the Business Manager, the ICT Manager is responsible for the strategic, operational and financial management of all aspects of information and communication technology at the College.

College Requirements

  • Participate in leading College devotions that involve staff and students and attendance at the staff retreat.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Development and implementation of the application, infrastructure, security and service desk components of the ICT Plan under the direction of the Business Manager.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the teaching and learning components of the ICT Plan under the direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the College’s Business Systems under the direction of the Business Manager.
  • Working with key staff, keep abreast of emerging technologies and proactively test and recommend new ICT technologies for the purpose of supporting teaching and learning and the business operations of the College.
  • Develop ICT policy and practices to support the College’s Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy and Privacy Policy.

Management

  • Manage all areas of the College’s ICT environment.
  • Possess an understanding of all school ICT products and systems for the purpose of management and advice.
  • Mentor, support, develop and manage the ICT team.
  • Develop policies, processes and practices for the ICT department and environment.
  • Ensure the ICT team maintain relevant documentation and record keeping.

Service Desk

  • Ensure a customer service focus for the ICT department.
  • Approve and oversee all ICT changes within the College.
  • Coordinate and approve professional development.
  • Be the escalation and management point for the ICT team.
  • Actively manage critical issues or outages outside of standard hours of operation.

Communication

  • Perform the role of liaison and technical representative of the College, for the support of teaching and learning strategies and the wider College community.
  • Communicate and collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to ensure ICT services and systems are efficient and support learning and business outcomes.
  • Vendor/3rd party management for purchasing, support, security, repairs and licensing.
  • Provide reports to the Business Manager as required.

Financial

  • Develop and manage the ICT budget under the direction of the Business Manager.
  • Provide strategic advice and planning to Business Manager for ongoing application, infrastructure and hardware replacement.
  • Provide strategic advice and planning for ICT expenditure.
  • Maintain records of all ICT expenditure.
  • Develop business cases for the Business Manager to justify ICT expenditure.

Risk and Compliance

  • Develop and maintain ICT capacity and disaster recovery plans, ensuring reliability and security.
  • Facilitate audits and reviews of the ICT environment, staff, policies, processes and practices as directed by the Board’s Governance, Risk, Compliance and Child Safety Committee. Ensure compliance with all relevant ICT legislation and standards.
  • Identify, mitigate, manage and plan for ICT risks.
  • Maintain records of all ICT contracts and agreements.

Project Management

  • Plan, approve and manage ICT projects to ensure delivery on time and on budget.
  • Develop and manage Request for Proposals as needed.

 Business Systems Management

  • Gain a detailed understanding of the College’s administration and teaching systems.
  • Working with other stakeholders identity, review and improve business/teaching processes.
  • Assist with architecting solutions from a business/educational (non-technical) perspective.

 Other

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Business Manager.

 Key Performance Criteria

  • Responsible for all aspects of the College’s ICT environment.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and College staff.
  • Mentor, support and manage the Service Desk Manager, System Administrators, and ICT Support Officers.
  • Deliver all tasks and projects on time and on budget.
  • Develop processes applicable to the efficient operation of the ICT environment.
  • Develop and maintain ICT capacity planning and disaster recovery plans.
  • Develop the ICT Budget in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage ICT budgets in conjunction with the Business Manager.
  • Perform vendor management.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

  • Management experience within an ICT environment.
  • Understanding of teaching and learning environments.
  • Project management exposure, including vendor management.
  • Industry certifications in Server and Virtualisation technologies.
  • IT Service Delivery certification.
  • Minimum 10 years technical experience.
  • ICT strategy and policy development.
  • ICT capacity and disaster recovery planning.
  • ICT budget and financial management.

 Core Competencies
